DAPTO PUPPY AUCTION ON THE INTERNET FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 2007
In many areas greyhound racing lags behind the two horse racing codes - but this year Dapto's Puppy Auction placed the greyhound industy to forefront.
Many major Australian thoroughbred auctions are now available to view via live streaming but, to date, it has not been possible to bid online on those events.
However, this year for the first time the Country Winnebargo Nowra-sponsored auction was available online for both bidders and observers.
"We view this as a great step forward for the Dapto auction concept," Dapto GRC secretary Wayne Billett said.
"In the years to come this internet facility will become increasingly important and we are proud that Dapto is leading the way by allowing users the opportunity to bid online in real time against people attending the auction."
Dapto's internet facility was developed for this year's auction by two Canberra companies - Edentiti Pty Ltd and Far Solutions Pty Ltd.
