EDIE'S PUP TOPS DAPTO 2007 SALE

A superbly bred daughter of boom sire Bond and 2006 Golden Easter Egg heroine Edie Beauchamp stole the show at the ninth Country Winnebago Nowra Dapto Puppy Auction held on Sunday.
Catalogued as Lot 180, the four month old black bitch was sold for $14,500, the highest of the 299 young greyhounds to go under the hammer.
While the sale topping figure was well below the record high of $40,000 set last year, it was just $1,000 under the record mark for a genuine sale at the auction, which was set in 2005 for a Token Prince x Knockabout Jude pup.
It was always going to be tough for the 2007 auction to reach the dizzy heights of last year's sale when record figures for both aggregate ($738,400) and average ($2,337) were set.
On Sunday, 299 of the catalogued 323 pups were sold with the total sales figure of $616,450 down $121,950 on the 2006 aggregate, when 316 lots were sold.
"Overall, I'm quite happy with the figures," Dapto Secretary Wayne Billet told The Recorder.
"I believe the best way to compare sales is the average and it's pleasing that this year's average compares favourably with the record figure of last year. Courtesy Greyhound Recorder
