HOW DOES THE DAPTO PUPPY AUCTION WORK?

1.     Nomination forms are to be completed with as much correct information as possible and forwarded with payment to the Dapto office for processing.

2.    If ear branding has not been carried out prior to nominating, these numbers can be forwarded to the Dapto office at a later stage (but no later than 30th March).  Pups are also required to be micro chipped.

3.    All breeding information will be verified by Dapto officials and a catalogue will be prepared with pups placed into lot order.

4.    Dapto administration will forward all nominators a bound copy of the catalogue with detailed information regarding arrival times and approximate auction times.  In this letter you are reminded that NO DOG WILL BE ACCEPTED into the auction unless the REGISTERATION PAPERS ARE PRODUCED ON AUCTION DAY

5.    On the morning of the auction all dogs are required to be cared for by the hander as NO KENNELS are available prior to the dog being auctioned.

6.    All dogs must be presented with a collar and lead and note that the collar will be forfeited with the dog to the purchaser

7.    All intending purchasers are required to complete a bidder’s form showing proof of identity.  Forms are available in the Dapto Tote area from 7.30am.  The bidder will then receive a bidder number to be used during the auction.  Bidder’s forms can be completed and returned to the Dapto office prior to auction day.  All bidder cards  will be available for collection from the Tote area on the day of the auction

8.    Handlers are to present dogs at the inspection table located at the front of the office.  DOGS REGISTRATION PAPERS MUST BE PRODUCED AND HANDED OVER TO OFFICIALS.  At this time the vet will inspect each dog and verify ear brands and will check the dog’s condition.

9.    Dogs are required to be at the inspection table in lots of 25 (according to the approx times you are given).

10.Once vetted, the dog will be allocated it’s lot number which will be attached to the collar by the vet

11.The handler will then take the dog to the viewing kennels that are numbered by lot (this area is located behind the grandstand undercover).  It is recommended that you bring a water bowl for the dogs during their time in the viewing kennels

12.During this time, the dogs will be viewed by prospective purchasers

13.An official will then call up 10 lots at a time to stand in line waiting for their turn to proceed out to the track and onto the stage.  The handler is required to wear a Dapto coat which will be handed to them at this time.

14.The handler will then lift the dog onto the podium and the auctioneers will introduce the dog and will briefly discuss the breeding prior to opening the bidding

15.Auction begins

16.The highest bidder becomes the purchaser (minimum bids of $500.00 with no reserve).  Officials will immediately make their way to the purchaser.  The purchaser must sign the sales docket (tax invoice) and a copy will be handed to the purchaser confirming price, lot number and purchase name

17.The handler will be escorted with an official to the Dapto kennel block where the dog will be kennelled.

18.The purchaser will then make their way to the Tote area to finalise payment of their dog.  Payments of cash, cheque and credit card are acceptable.  Credit card payments will be charged an additional 3% and Amex cards will be charged an additional 5%.  When paying by cheque please note that registration papers will not be released until the cheque has been cleared by the bank.

19.Upon payment the purchaser will produce their copy of the sale docket (tax invoice) showing the lot number, purchaser’s name, bidder number and price.  They will then receive the dogs registration papers and a receipt of payment.  At this point in time the dog can be collected from the kennel block.

20.In the kennels the dog will be checked again for the correct lot number, earbrand and micro chip number and if all correct the dog will then be released to the purchaser

21.All purchasers should ensure that they have researched ownership responsibilities which can be found at www.thedogs.com.au as published by GRNSW.

22.Representative from GRNSW will be on site at the auction to discuss any greyhound participation/ownership or syndication matters
